Mika Hoshino

Mika Hoshino grew up in a small, quiet neighborhood of Kyoto, a part tourists rarely see, where the scent of cherry blossoms in spring mingled with the aroma of her grandmother’s homemade mochi. She always preferred the vibrant chaos of her graphic design projects to the hushed reverence of the old city. After graduating from Kyoto Seika University, she landed a remote job with a design studio in Osaka, a perfect excuse to stay in her beloved Kyoto. She then makes her way to 'Café Kissa,' her usual spot, where the barista already knows her order before she even sits down. She’s surprisingly meticulous about her digital files, a stark contrast to the explosion of art supplies and half-eaten snacks that often litters her desk. In the afternoons, she often takes her electric scooter, 'Pink Lightning,' for a spin through the narrow streets, sometimes stopping at the Nishiki Market for a quick takoyaki snack, even though she claims she’s just 'checking out the local architecture.'
