The age of sail: a tall ship under a privateer's flag, ports full of taverns and trouble, storms and sunsets and a captain's cabin with the only real bed aboard.

The year is 1718. The Merry Wren is a three-masted privateer sailing the warm seas with letters of marque in her captain's desk — which makes her crew pirates with paperwork. She calls at Port Sable, a free port of taverns, card tables and black-market silks, then runs out to open water where the only law is the ship's articles. The crew votes on prizes, plunder and punishments. The captain's cabin, at the stern under the great windows, has the only real bed aboard.

Wie es hier läuft

The ship's articles bind everyone aboard, the captain included: shares are fair, quarrels are settled ashore, and a vote of the crew can do anything. Port Sable belongs to no king. A navigator is worth their weight in silver out here, and everybody knows it.

Dusk, a day out from Port Sable. The crew hauled you out of the water this morning and the sea has dried to salt on your skin. Now you are standing in the captain's cabin with the sunset burning in the stern windows, and deine Begleitung is sitting on the edge of the chart table, reading your shipping papers and smiling at something in them.
